Week 17 : Technology-imagined negative futures

So, a third of the way through and off we go on Block 3. This block will look at the possible futures of learning and the implications for my role.
Firstly - negative perceptions of the use of technologies in education.
Wesch's ' A vision of students today'

We already commented a lot on this video within the tutor group forum. The use of music  and monotone colours to create an emotional effect. The empty lecture hall with it's scrawlings like cave paintings. What is it saying? The 'quotes' are all taken from research from students (well those that could and wanted engage in the gooogle doc), and it points us to the fact that maybe education is not matching the needs of it's students? Or is it just telling us about the general lifestyle of students today?
"a few ideas..." (Visions of students Today)

This has more of students talking and creates a different message about students today, linking more to some of the anthropological aspects of the issues. I think it fleshes out some of the thoughts from the student's point of view.
As always, Wesch's and his students create a good talking point. However, does this represent all students? Or just  those small few how are willing to stand out, talk out, do more creative things?
It raises up those questions again about what education is for....(something to think about when considering technologies impact on educational reform...)
